Folie à Deux and Broken Sound are incredibly proud to announce the exhibition 'DIY IS ALL YOU NEED' showcasing the visual artwork of multi-talented artists and musicians, who all hold DIY ethics at the centre of their creativity. Prompted by musician & artist Rachael Dadd, this has since become a truly collaborative event developed by all involved.

This 2 week event will include artwork, live music, and videos. Utrophia Project Space (Deptford High Street) is a venue that both promotes and embraces all aspects of DIY culture. Run by a collective of independent artists, Utrophia provides an accessible and exciting platform for new music, art, film and workshop events.

DIY IS ALL YOU NEED opens on Friday 1st June (19.00-00.00), with live music from some special guests.

This dynamic, honest and exciting collection of art pieces encompasses painting, drawing, monoprint, clothing, textiles, sculpture, animation and film. Many of the works on show will also have been used alongside DIY music projects – posters, videos, and album covers – yet all can be appreciated as art pieces in their own right.

All of these artists and musicians embrace the beauty of creation, collaboration and self-sufficiency. In this current climate of austerity, their celebration of craft, music, art, education and community has become all the more important. As François Marry said – ‘DIY is all we need.’
